If your Auspicious Beasts Ao deck feels sticky, learn the likely cause, safe cleaning steps, and when to stop and consider a replacement.
Quick answer
Stickiness on your Auspicious Beasts Ao deck usually comes from humidity, residue, or plasticizer migration. Try a gentle wipe with a dry microfiber cloth first; if that fails, use a very slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.
Why stickiness happens
Playing cards can become sticky when stored in high humidity, which causes the coating to soften. Oils from your hands also build up over time, leaving a tacky film. Some card stock uses plasticizers that can migrate to the surface, especially in warm conditions.
When to stop and replace
If cleaning doesn't remove the stickiness, or if the cards feel greasy or have a strong chemical smell, the coating may have degraded permanently. In that case, a fresh deck is the safer choice for smooth play.
Diagnosis & fix steps
- Symptom: Cards feel tacky or slightly sticky to the touch, especially after sitting unused.
- Likely cause: Humidity exposure, hand oil buildup, or plasticizer migration from the card stock.
- Corrective action: Wipe each card gently with a dry microfiber cloth. If residue remains, slightly dampen the cloth with distilled water, wipe, and dry immediately with a second cloth. Let the deck air out for an hour before storing. If the stickiness returns soon after cleaning, the coating may be degraded.
- Stop or replace point: If after two cleaning attempts the cards remain sticky, feel greasy, or emit a chemical odor, discard the deck and purchase a new one. A fresh Auspicious Beasts Ao deck ensures consistent handling and protects your playing experience.
